The Walk
-Gravitation-

Shindou Shuuichi walked along the street, his arm looped into that of his lover, Yuki Eiri. He was actually several paces behind Yuki, giving the passerby the impression that the older man was dragging the pink haired boy. In actuallity, Shuuichi just wasn't paying attention to the pace of his lover, or much else for that matter. His mind was on endless replay of the day he had just spent with Yuki. They had spent a good part of it just wondering around in the park, but Shuuichi had loved every minute of it.

The pair had been walking for a good half hour before Shuuichi dropped out of his haze and blinked at his surroundings. He skipped a step to catch up to Yuki's pace and looked up at the blonde with large, purple, confused eyes.

"Eh, Yuki, where are we going?" he asked.

Yuki turned and just looked at Shuuichi for a moment before speaking. "You just noticed that we passed the apartment?" he inquired dismayed.

"I guess my mind was elsewhere," replied Shuuichi.

Yuki stopped in the middle of the dimly lit path that the pair had been walking along for the past few minutes. Shuuichi stopped as well and took a look around, realizing that the little walkway they were on looked a lot like where he had first met Yuki. He turned and looked at Yuki in the poor light, wondering why he had stopped.

"And tell me, Shuuichi, where has your mind been?"

Even with the lack of light Shuuichi could see Yuki's eyes, those almost lethal yellow eyes, watching him, waiting for a response. He allowed himself a moment to stare at them, not realizing that his mouth was a little agape. Apparently his moment had been too long, because the look in those eyes suddenly turned into an impatient glare.

"Ah, ah, I was just thinking about today, Yuki! It was very nice, you know. You've been so kind and everything..." he said finally, rushing it a bit as if to make up for being silent too long.

Yuki shrugged and walked over to a nearby bench, dropping without much grace onto the seat. He reached into his pant pocket and pulled out his package of cigarettes, removing one from the little box, and replaced it into the folds of pocket. Shuuichi walked over and sat beside him as the writer took out his lighter and flipped it open and sparked the little flame. The younger man watched as his lover lit the cigarette and then flipped the lid shut.

Before Yuki could put the lighter away Shuuichi caught sight of the photo sticker from their first date and grinned. Quicker than lightening the purple eyed singer snatched the lighter out of Yuki's hand and trotted over to a lamp post that was a meter or so away. He held the little metal object up so that he could see the sticker more clearly.

Shuuichi sensed, rather than heard, Yuki come up behind him. He wheeled around quickly and held the lighter up in front of his lover's eyes, way too close for Yuki to actually focus on it. His eyes shone as he giggled, watching Yuki's annoyed expression.

"That day was so nice, Yuki! Like today. You are always nice on our dates," he said, "And we go on days when the sun is shining and it just makes me so happy! I love spending time with you like that, Yuki!"

Yuki snatched the lighter away and tucked it back into his pocket. He took a drag off his cigarette and then took it out of his mouth, staring down at his lover. He shook his head slowly.

"Why?" he asked.

Shuuichi blinked. He looked up at the sky, one finger poking his chin and a look of thought on his face. He watched the stars twinkle silently as he thought. Forever passed before he turned his attention back to a very annoyed looking Yuki. He smiled sweetly, his eyes closed in little upside down U's.

"Because I love you," he said simply.

Yuki's eyes narrowed. "It took you an hour to come up with that?" he asked angrily.

Shuuichi gave a short, embarrassed laugh and scratched the back of his neck. "Uh... not really. I kinda spaced out for part of the time there..." He was still smiling and still had his eyes closed, but he now peeked one open to see Yuki's reaction.

"Idiot!" cried Yuki. He dropped his cigarette on the ground, turned his heel on it, and began to walk swiftly away from his lover.

Shuuichi just stood there, watching sadly as his lover got further and further away and finally dissappeared around a curve in the path. His smile dropped into a frown and his eyes filled with tears. Behind him the lamp suddenly went out and he fell to his knees crying.

It took him half an hour to get his entire cry out. Finally he sniffed on last time and got slowly to his feet. 'Not the response I was expecting...' he thought to himself as he began walking in the direction he had watched Yuki go in earlier. He tugged absently at a piece of his pinkish coloured hair as he walked.

When he reached the apartment he fished in his pocket for the key and unlocked the door. Inside he found Yuki sitting on the couch, sipping at a can of beer. Shuuichi silently sat himself at the opposite side of the couch, his hands between his knees and his eyes to the floor. After a long pause he heard Yuki set the can on the coffee table and stand up.

"I had a good day today, too," the novelist said quietly.

Shuuichi brightened instantly. He looked up at Yuki, his eyes large and loving. "Really?"

"Yes. And..."

"And?" Shuuichi prompted earnestly, his hands gripping the couch cusions.

"... I love you, too," Yuki said.

Shuuichi was on him in a second, pinning him against the wall in a huge, glomping hug. He started prattling on about how good a day it had been and how nice it was to hear those words and many other things that even he wasn't able too keep up with.

"Shut up!" Yuki said suddenly, pushing Shuuichi off him.

Shuuichi stopped midsentence, his face falling again.

Yuki looked at him for a long moment. "If you're feeling so energetic, Shuuichi, why don't we put it to some good use?" With that he began walking towards the bedroom.

Shuuichi could feel the blush flood into his face. "I, uh.. I mean... Um..." he stammered.

Yuki paused at the door, looking over his shoulder at his lover. "Are you going to come with me, or are you just going to stand there like an idiot? Make up your mind, or else I might just change mine."

Shuuichi smiled. "I... I'm coming," he said, and followed Yuki into the bedroom.
