The Date
-Gravitation-

Yuki Eiri sat quietly under a tree in the park near his apartment. The sun was shining brightly in the sky overhead, hiding every now and then behind clouds that drifted lazily by. He took the package of cigarettes from his pocket and pulled one out, placing it in his mouth and pushing the package back into the folds of his pocket. He took out his lighter and flipped it open, holding the little flame to the opposite end of the cigarette until the tip glowed red. He closed his eyes and puffed on it a bit, waiting for Shuuichi to get back.

A few minutes passed before he heard the piercing call of his paramour. "Yuki! Yuuukiii!!" Shuuichi called loudly as he ran towards Eiri with a can of coffee in his right hand and a can of water in the other. "Yuki, I got us something to drink!" Shuuichi half knelt, half fell into place beside Eiri, his face flushed slightly from running in the sun. He held out the coffee towards the blonde man, smiling broadly at him.

Yuki stared at his lover for a few moments. This moment in time was so familiar to him, but he forced himself to remember that this wasn't him and his sensei. He shook his head to get his thoughts back in order and looked at the face of Shuuichi. The smile was gone and the boy was looking at him with concern in those large, purple eyes. He took the coffee and popped open the top, taking a sip.

"I'm fine," he said, answering Shuuichi's unasked question.

The younger man held his can of water unopened in his hands that rested between his knees. "Really?" Shuuichi asked, his eyes searching Yuki's face.

Eiri raised his free hand and brushed a bit of stray hair out of his partner's face, then trailed it down his cheek lightly. "Really," he said. He leaned back against the tree trunk and took another drink from his coffee can.

Shuuichi shrugged and glanced down at the water in his hands. He pulled the tab off and took a long drink. He let out a long "Ah" and looked up at the leaves of the tree. Light from the sun that pushed through the leaves left little highlighted designs on his face. He sighed softly and turned to look at Yuki again.

"Today has been so nice, Yuki," he said solemly, "Thank you."

Eiri allowed a smile. "I guess." He put out his cigarette against the tree trunk and stood up, walking over to a nearby trash can and throwing the butt and coffee can away. "Come on, Shuuichi. Let's go." He began walking in the opposite direction, towards his apartment.

"Oi, Yuki, wait up!" Shuuichi called after him, trotting to catch up. He tossed his empty water can into the trash on top of Yuki's can as he passed and then finally caught up with the writer, looping his arm into Yuki's as they walked. "Are we going home already, Yuki?" he asked.

Eiri glanced down at Shuuichi, a glare present in his eyes for only a moment at the boy's actions, and then shook his head. "No, not just yet. There is another place I want to go first."

"Ouu, where? Where is the other place, Yuki?"

Eiri sighed. "Idiot. Why should I bother telling you when you will see when we get there?"

Shuuichi fell silent at this. Yuki knew he had hurt him by being so cold after the day had been going so well, but he could honestly take only so much hyperactiveness. He would do something later to apologize, but for now it was quiet and he was going to take advantage of it.

The two walked arm in arm down the street, passing by a couple of shops. Finally they were at the place where Yuki had planned on stopping and so he veered off and into the door, his arm slipping from Shuuichi's. He could hear the singer shuffle in behind him. He turned around just in time to see Shuuichi's eyes light up. He had brought them to the newly opened arcade.

Before he had a chance to say anything Shuuichi rushed past him to the machine that would exchange his yen for gaming tokens. Yuki shook his head and scowled, even though he was laughing inside. No matter how hard he tried to be annoyed by it, Shuuichi's enthusiasm for things, no matter how small, gave him a warm feeling.

He walked over and stood behind Shuuichi, who had started out on a fighting game. The character he had chosen was a rather muscular man wearing a sailor dress. Yuki cocked his head to the side slightly, thinking back to when Shuuichi had dressed like that because he thought that he didn't like him because he was male.

"Interesting choice of character..." He said.

Shuuichi gave a little, embarrassed laugh. "I put the character selection on random. This is the one the computer gave me." He clicked two buttons and the fight was over, the victory going to the pink haired musician. "Want to play, Yuki?"

Yuki nodded and Shuuichi pushed in more tokens. They chose their characters and the fight began.

They stayed at the arcade for a couple more hours, but finally Shuuichi began to complain that he was hungry. Eiri couldn't blame him, they had accidentally skipped lunch while on their date. So they left the arcade and headed over to Zenny's to get something to eat.

Their conversation over dinner was mainly carried out by Shuuichi. He yammered on about work and Bad Luck's upcoming tour. There was also a concert soon and another CD recording. Yuki listened carefully to everything, though his expression would have given an onlooker the opposite impression. It was normally how their conversations took place, though.

Finally Yuki had had enough. "Shut up already," he said.

Shuuichi had been in mid sentence, but he shut up immediately. "I... I'm sorry, Yuki," he said quietly. He shoved a french fry into his mouth and munched it silently.

Something else Eiri would have to apologize for. He sighed. "Are you done eating yet?" he asked.

Shuuichi stuck the last french fry into his mouth and downed it with the rest of his soda, then nodded. Yuki sighed softly and stood up. His lover stood up as well and stood there looking like a beaten dog. Yuki felt a twinge of guilt.

He stepped towards Shuuichi and took his face in his hands, staring at those purple eyes. They were filled with confusion yet again. He leaned forward and kissed Shuuichi softly, letting his eyes close for the precious few moments that their lips were together.

"Come on, Shuuichi. Let's go home," he said.

Shuuichi smiled softly, staring up at Eiri with pure love in his eyes. "Okay," he said with a nod.
